WEST PARIS – After hours of planning, the town’s Old Home Days Committee has scheduled this year’s event for the weekend of June 4-6.

The celebration will kick-off at 5 p.m. Friday, June 4, with the annual Children’s Parade followed by a baked bean supper at the Historical Society, a book signing by Pat Stewart at the library, a portable sawmill demonstration on the town office grounds and a street dance on Kingsbury Street.

Also Friday, the midway on Kingsbury Street will be open featuring games and other children’s activities, food booths and entertainment for all ages.

Saturday will start with the Grand Parade at 10 a.m. The parade will organize on Briggs Street and march down Main Street to the village center where people can get a close look at the floats and other parade features.

Other interests on Saturday will include an antique auto show at the Agnes Gray School, Jody’s Mineral Tours, a Chinese auction, a forestry demonstration and more.

Sunday will feature a downhill soap box derby race beginning at 11 a.m., a deep fried turkey dinner at noon, an old timers baseball game at 2:30 p.m. and more.

Running all weekend will be an undercover flea market, beano, wagon rides, wood carving, pony rides, a fishing derby, splash tank, and a rock hound tail-gating party.

The celebration will be centered around the annual West Paris High School Alumni Reunion and Banquet which will be held Saturday evening.
