NORWAY – Firefighters from this town, Oxford and South Paris quickly stopped a fire at a home at the end of No Name Street Sunday morning.

“We had very good mutual aid,” said Fire Chief Michael Mann. “That’s what did it.”

Mann estimated damage to the house at $5,000. “It takes very little damage to add up, given the price of materials today,” the chief said.

He suspects flames made their way through cracks in a chimney to spark the blaze that was mostly located in the attic.

The chief didn’t have the names of the house’s owners or occupants available Sunday evening.

The fire was called in at 9:50 a.m., he said.

Firefighters from West Paris responded to the call as well, covering fire headquarters in South Paris while crews from that town helped in Norway.

Shortly after, Norway firefighters helped Oxford firefighters put down a shed fire in that town.

Later in the day, Mann said Norway firefighters also responded with a tanker truck to a woods fire call in South Paris.

“It was a very busy day for us,” Mann said.
