Rummage sale
CHESTERVILLE – A rummage and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Town Hall to benefit the North Chesterville Homemakers Extension.
It will include whoopie pies and collectibles.
Mother Goose visit
AUBURN – Mother Goose will read nursery rhymes at the Book Burrow in Great Falls Plaza, Saturday at 10 a.m. Dorothy Gatchell has become popular for her readings as Mother Goose at the Auburn Public Library.
This is Gatchell’s first appearance at the Book Burrow, however, the locally owned store has sponsored many author signings and events.
The store’s owners, Laurie and Dan St. Pierre, are planning a series of events for June to celebrate the store’s first anniversary.
Among the events planned are a magic show on June 18 and a presentation by spiritual messenger Vicki Monroe on June 25.
Mothers supper
NORTH WATERFORD – A Mother’s Day public supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the North Waterford Congregational Church vestry, Five Kezars Road, off Routes 35 and 37.
The menu will offer baked beans, American chop suey, casseroles, salads, brown bread, rolls, beverages and dessert.
Tickets are $6 for adults; $3 for children under age 12.
Proceeds benefit sending children to summer camp through scholarships.
Blanket Sunday
LOVELL – A Church World Service Blanket Sunday will be held on Sunday, May 9, at the United Church of Christ, Route 5, Center Lovell.
Blankets are purchased for $5 and provided to victims of disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes.
Cards will be available for donations in honor of mothers.
Heywood Club
NORWAY – The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 10, at the clubhouse on Crockett Ridge. Guest speaker will be Marge Medd of Norway who will talk about her upcoming political campaign. Refreshments will be served.
