BUCKFIELD – Terry Hayes, veteran SAD 39 director, has announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the Maine House of Representatives in District 94.
The district includes the towns of Paris, Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner.
“As a lifelong resident of Maine, I am dedicated to preserving our heritage and planning for our future. This means long-term tax reform for all Mainers. It means economic policies that promote business development and also value those that do the work. Our people are our most valuable resource. We must provide access to quality, affordable education, training and healthcare.”
Hayes is an ardent advocate for quality public education provided in the most cost-effective ways. She has served on the SAD 39 board since 1992, chaired it for three of those years and chaired its Budget Committee for six years.
Hayes serves as moderator for the town meetings in Hartford, Buckfield and Sumner. She has served on the Region 11 Vocational School Board, and currently participates on the Joint Committee on Regionalization between SAD 39 and SAD 17. She owns her Buckfield-based business, Hayes & Associates, which provides consulting services in child custody matters to District and Probate Courts throughout southern and central Maine. She and her husband, Stephen, a therapist in private practice in Lewiston, have three teenage children, Charlee, Harry and Danny.
House District 94 is currently represented by Rosita Gagne-Friel, D-Buckfield. Term limits prevent her from running for re-election this fall.
