WOODSTOCK – Two people were slightly injured Thursday in a rear-end crash initially thought to be more serious.
Wendy J. McInerny, 43, of 56 Birch St. in Bryant Pond was struck from behind at 2 p.m. while traveling north on Route 26 near the Woodstock Town Office.
As McInerny slowed to turn left on Church Street, she was struck from behind by a car driven by Richard G. Hutchins of Bethel, Oxford County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Christopher Wainwright said.
Tri-Town Rescue transported McInerny, who was traveling with a son, 6, and a daughter, 7, and Hutchins to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway to be evaluated, but their injuries did not appear to be serious, Wainwright said.
The accident initially came over the dispatch center as a head-on collision, which was not the case, Wainwright said.
McInerny’s 2002 Mercury Mountaineer sustained an estimated at $6,500 damage. Hutchins 1996 Dodge Intrepid sustained $3,500 damage, Wainwright said.
Traffic on the sharp curve where the accident occurred was slowed to one lane for a half hour while the scene was cleared.
