The road commissioner reported that all town roads have been posted.

HARTFORD – Selectmen Thursday night adopted a new policy whereby property owners will pay for buying and installing their first culvert.

The town has been bearing the installation cost. Property owners may have the town install the culvert or hire a contractor. The road commissioner would oversee the installation.

The culvert should be at least 15 inches in diameter by 30 feet long. The town maintains the culvert after the first installation.

The road committee and the selectmen will meet for a presentation of a Department of Transportation software program used to evaluate town roads at 7 p.m. Monday in the Town Hall. The public is invited, but it will be an informational presentation only. Bob Calawa, a member of the road committee, will lead the presentation.

Road Commissioner Bim McNeil reported that all town roads have been posted, and he was adding gravel to Camp and Tucker roads. He said loggers are still using Labrador Road and an 18-wheeler was using Town Farm Road. He will be calling the violators, he said.

If the temperature is below 32 degrees and the road is solidly frozen, it is OK to travel on, he said, but the thaw has started.

There will be a public hearing on proposed ordinances and revisions at 7 p.m. April 14 in the Town Hall. The town meeting will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 22.

Dave Krasky reported few returns on his Comprehensive Plan Survey, and he urged people to return the questionnaire as soon as possible.

The board voted to accept the bid of just under $6,000 from Mark Blanchette for replacing the Town Hall roof. Blanchette will begin roofing immediately.

Selectman Scott Swain said he and Dan Maddox will be looking at programs for updating the town’s software and hardware as well as checking on its computer maintenance contract.
