NORWAY – Oxford County Preschool Enrichment Trust funds are available for preschool children in the county. Up to $500 per grantee is available. For more information call the Child Health Center at 743-7035. The next round of applications are due by April 1.

Trip fund-raising

OXFORD HILLS – The Maine Kanteles have been invited to perform at an annual kantele festival in Ilomantsi, Finland. They’ll be the first American ensemble to participate. The Kanteles will also attend a kantele camp to improve their skills to help them provide cultural enrichment programs for schools and communities. The Kanteles are raising money to help pay for the trip. To make a donation or for more information, people can call Sarah at 657-6494.

Benefit breakfast

OXFORD – A Super Bowl breakfast will be hosted by Boy Scout Troop 196 from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at the American Legion Post 112, Route 121. The menu features eggs, home fries, sausage, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is adults, $5, and children under 12, $3. Proceeds will benefit the Scouts’ summer camp.

RUMFORD – People can show support for the Special Olympic team competitors on Friday, Jan. 30, at Black Mountain. There is no snow date. For more information, call 743-8914. Competitors will be from throughout Maine.

Bike race

BRIDGTON – Shawnee Peak Ski Area will host its third Sebago Outfitters Snow Mountain Bike Race at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. Registration will be 8 to 11:30 a.m. Practice runs start at noon. Registration is $20. Participants can buy an all-day ticket for $10. Jon Kibler, owner of Sebago Outfitter Bike Shop in Windham, said master course builder Kyle Ebbett has been brought in to add jumps, turns and more to the course. More than 100 racers are expected to participate. Racers are sent down four at a time, and the top two racers from each heat go to the next heat. Saturday concert

PARIS – A District II instrumental music festival concert will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School gym. Featured will be middle and high school orchestra and band students. Festival participants come from 30 schools, including Fryeburg, Bethel, Turner and Oxford Hills. Welchville dance

WELCHVILLE – A dance will feature music by the Country Ladds band from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Emugene Staples Hall, Route 121, sponsored by the Oxford Fire Department and Auxiliary Corps. For more information call 743-8287 or 539-4813.

Spaghetti dinner

BUCKFIELD – The Streaked Mountaineers Snowmobile Club will hold its 30th annual Spaghetti Feed Ride-In to benefit the Pine Tree Camp for Crippled Children. It will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Buckfield High School on Turner Street, Route 140. The ride-in is a public event. People don’t need to be members of the club and don’t need to arrive by snowmobile. The club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the clubhouse on Morrill Street by the SAD 39 school bus garage. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.
