PARIS – It’s hard to tell which is more valuable, the training or the bonds that are formed.
Barb Olson, vice president of the Growth Council of Oxford Hills, said sharing business dreams with others on a weekly basis for 11 weeks can develop a strong sense of camaraderie.
So strong, in fact, that graduates of last fall’s NxLevel Training got together this week for a reunion.
“We had everyone check in, and see how their plans are going,” Olson said. Several of them stayed in contact after the training, providing support and feedback. “They network with each other, designing logos for each other’s business,” said Olson. “All of these people thought the program helped them a great deal.”
Beginning Feb. 2, another 11-week NxLevel business planning class will be offered. Janice Bolduc, who taught the previous course, will teach the course on Mondays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
The $95 program cost is more affordable than other business planning courses, Olson said.
Supported by the Business Development Network and offered through Oxford Hills Adult Education, the class provides participants with the opportunity to develop a strategic plan for their business. The program brings businesses together to network and learn from each other, gain access to resources and information, get advice from experts in business development and management, and participate in 33 hours of business development training utilizing the NxLevel curriculum.
Sharon DiGiovanni of Norway, a participant in the class, has thought about starting a herb or art-related business for some time.
“When I saw the class offered in the adult ed brochure, I knew I needed to sign up. It was the best investment I ever made. It made writing a business plan painless and fun as the energy of the instructor, guest speakers and fellow classmates provided inspiration and lots of great information.”
