FRYEBURG – Dave Hastings, a local attorney and a lifelong resident of Fryeburg, announced Monday that he’s running for the District 13 state Senate seat.

The district encompasses Baldwin, Bridgton, Brownfield, Denmark, Fryeburg, Harrison, Hiram, Naples, Norway, Otisfield, Oxford, Paris, Porter and Sebago.

“Maine is rich in recreation, culture, history, tradition and down home humor,” Hastings said in a statement, “but I see our way of life threatened by the ever-worsening state of our economy.”

As senator, he pledged to “tear down the road blocks to economic growth for all of Maine but especially western Maine.”

Among his pledges: to work to reduce the overall tax burden, keep children in schools longer and protect the beauty of Maine.

Hastings seeks the Republican nomination for the seat.
