FRYEBURG – Police are offering a $500 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who assaulted a Fryeburg doctor in her home Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Fryeburg police urged seasonal property owners in the area to check their camps to make sure no one has been living in them lately, Fryeburg police Sgt. Michael McAllister said.
Dr. Mary Nash suffered cuts to her head and hands after coming home at 7 a.m. and surprising the 20-something-year-old white male, who police believe broke in through a back door.
The man hit Nash with a wrench-type tool, but she managed to break free and run to a neighbor for help. She was treated at a hospital was released Wednesday evening.
On Friday, police were busy following up numerous leads they received after releasing a composite sketch of the man. Evidence was gathered at the home, and the Maine Warden Service spent Wednesday and Thursday combing the woodsy area behind Nash’s home in pursuit of clues.
“We’re getting bunches of phone calls from folks that have seen the sketch. We’re still doing a lot of legwork at the moment,” McAllister said Friday.
Anyone with information they believe may help police in the case is asked to phone the Fryeburg Police Department at 935-3323 or the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department anonymous tip line at (800) 733-1421, press 4.
