MEXICO – A Whitman Street resident reported a burglary at her residence at 12:13 p.m., Jan. 3. Someone had picked the lock to the entrance door, then took two knick-knacks. The burglary is believed to have occurred the night before it was reported. Police have a suspect.

Mexico police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said calls during the first few days of the new year – at 19 – is average. He said most were civil complaints or assists with neighboring police and fire departments. He said New Year’s Eve has become one of the quietest nights of the year because revelers use taxi cabs or designated drivers.
