ROXBURY – An 8-year-old boy was being flown to a Massachussetts hospital late Friday after he was burned, apparently during an accident around a campfire.

Details about the incident were scant by 10 p.m. The victim was first driven down Route 17 to a hospital in Rumford before he was flown to the hospital in Boston.

Early reports were that two boys may have been burned but that it was the 8-year-old who suffered the most severe injuries.

Officials at the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department said they had no information about the incident. A Warden Service spokeswoman said that office had not been dispatched.

It was not clear where in Roxbury the incident occurred.
