RUMFORD – Police have logged the following arrests:
• John W. Bassett, 22, Peru, warrant charging failure to appear on charges of furnishing liquor to a minor and driving to endanger, turned himself in at 8:45 a.m. Dec. 14 at the police station. He was released on $250 cash bail. An arraignment date has not been set.
• Roland K. Libby, 52, Rumford, domestic violence assault, 9:40 p.m. Dec. 12 on Falmouth Street. He was released on $300 unsecured bail and will be arraigned Jan. 8 in Rumford District Court.
• Robert L. Terrill, 24, Mexico, domestic violence assault, 4:45 p.m. Dec. 12 on Roxbury Road in Mexico. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail pending a Feb. 5 arraignment.
Accident
Dec. 17, 7:30 a.m. – A 1998 Chevy driven by Britany Paskell, 23, of Rumford, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Maine Avenue and Hancock Street and struck a 2003 Chevy pickup truck operated by Allen Vaughn, 37, of Rumford. Damage to Paskell’s car was estimated at $1,500; to Vaughn’s truck, $1,000. Paskell wasn’t cited for failure to stop, but she was summonsed for operating after suspension and will be arraigned April 8 in Rumford District Court.
Identity theft
Dec. 18, 9 p.m. – A Penobscot Street resident reported that he had received a phone call from a man saying he worked for a telephone company. After getting the resident interested in a calling plan, the resident supplied the caller with his personal information. Next, the caller told the victim that he needed to do a credit check and would call back, but never did. Police advised the resident to contact the Maine Attorney General’s Office as it appears it was a case of identity theft.
