RUMFORD – Discussion and implications of a potential administrative merger with neighboring school districts will be among the topics at Tuesday’s SAD 43 board meeting.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the library of Mountain Valley High School.
Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said his district has filed a letter of intent with the Maine Department of Education to work on a possible merger with SAD 21 in Dixfield, SAD 44 in Bethel, and Union 37 in Rangeley.
Selectmen from SAD 43’s four member towns attended a board meeting last week to learn of the district’s plans and the implications of a possible merger.
The board will also approve a loan agreement with the Maine Bond Bank for borrowing $750,000 over five years that will enable the district to make a variety of repairs to school buildings.
These include such things as new boilers, roof repairs, handicapped-accessible entry doors, asbestos removal, and construction of a new track at Mountain Valley Middle School.
Other agenda items include the appointment of Jessica Casey as special education teacher at the Pennacook Learning Center, administrative reports from the middle school’s principal and director of special education, and an update on the beginning of the new school year.
