Virgin Mary sightings have drawn millions of the faithful to observe and pray over the years. Below is a selection of those sightings:
• Jalcomulco, Mexico. The image of La Virgin de Guadeloupe has been reported hundreds of times, starting in 1531, on ordinary images, including the dented fender of a 1974 Chevy and a clove of garlic.
• Fatima, Portugal. Three children reported seeing the Virgin Mary and receiving prophecies in 1917.
• Garabandal, Spain. Four girls reported visions over several of years, starting in 1961.
• Finca Betania, Venezuela. A young girl reported seeing visions of the Virgin Mary starting in 1976. She received prophecies at the same time, including a war in Asia and the former Soviet Union in the 1990s.
• Medjugorje, Yugoslavia. Six teens reported seeing visions of Mary and receiving messages from the Virgin Mother beginning in 1981.
• Conyers, Ga. An image of Madonna was reported to make an annual appearance starting in 1983. While she has not reappeared in years, as many as 80,000 people would make the annual pilgrimage to the farm during the peak of the sightings.
• Clearwater, Fla. An image resembling Madonna was first sighted in 1999 in the glass windows of an office building. The image was damaged in 2004 when vandals broke some of the glass.
• Milton, Mass. An image of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus was first sighted in June 2003 in a window of Milton Hospital, just south of Boston. The image was created by a window seal leak, creating condensation inside the panes.
