RUMFORD – Police and Rumford Town Manager Steve Eldridge were tight-lipped Thursday about an internal investigation started Tuesday within the Police Department.
Retiring Chief Timothy Bourassa, who had 15 days remaining on the job as of Thursday, declined to identify or talk about the matter Thursday morning in his office. Other officers also declined comment at the station.
“I can’t talk about it; it’s a personnel issue,” was all Eldridge would say when contacted by phone Thursday afternoon at the town office.
Board of Selectmen Chairman Jim Thibodeau, contacted by phone at his home late Thursday afternoon, said he wasn’t aware of the investigation or any pending matters pertaining to police officers.
