PARIS – Men from Roxbury and Mexico were indicted Friday for allegedly stealing storm-drain grates and sewer covers from the town of Mexico.
An Oxford County grand jury indicted Joshua F. Hodgkins, 21, of Roxbury Notch Road, Roxbury, and Mark W. Ramsdell, 46, of Dix Avenue, Mexico, on one Class C felony count each of theft.
According to the indictments, the two men allegedly stole storm-drain grates, sewer covers and associated hardware on Oct. 17.
Mexico Police Chief James Theriault said earlier this month that the two men reportedly stole 10 sets of utility covers and associated hardware.
He said the men “thought the covers were junk, took them right from the town garage and scrapped them.”
He estimated the value of the items at $5,000.
Others indicted Friday included:
Timothy S. Flaherty, 44, of Route 2 in Rumford, on a felony charge of criminal threatening for allegedly placing a Rumford man in fear of imminent bodily injury with the use of a bat on Sept. 28 in Rumford.
Jeremy Dale Smith, 27, of Songo Pond Road, Bethel, on a felony charge of theft stemming from an incident on June 1, 2003, during which Smith allegedly stole cash and property in excess of $1,000 from Siwooganock Bank in New Hampshire.
Erickson Marcelino Pena, aka Vicen Arrendell-Acosta, 23, of Boston, on a felony charge of aggravated forgery and violation of preconviction bail.
According to the indictment, Pena allegedly forged a public record to be filed with a public office or employee on Sept. 28 in Paris.
Having been granted preconviction bail, Pena was supposed to refrain from committing any new criminal conduct, but, the indictment stated, he reportedly violated that on Sept. 28.
