RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine will have a scholarship program for season passes for the 2005 ski season. To make this possible, Black Mountain and the community are pulling resources together to make sure every child who needs a season pass, yet cannot afford one, does not get left out. It is hoped to have enough passes for everyone, but if more applications are received than passes, a committee will determine the recipients based on the content in their letters.

Children ages 6-16 from the River Valley must write a letter, minimum 300, maximum 500 words, no e-mail or faxes, on how they can make a difference in their community and how a season pass at Black Mountain will have an impact on them. Send the letters to Black Mountain of Maine, Terrie Anne Bennett, General Manager, PO Box 296, Rumford, ME 04276-0296. Deadline to submit letter is Friday, Nov. 12. All past recipients will be notified by Friday, Nov. 26.
