Dear Sun Spots: We read and enjoy your articles daily. Do you know of a bakery in the L-A area that bakes Syrian breads daily? – Jim, Rumford.

Answer: Sun Spots searched for a bakery that makes Syrian bread or pita bread and had no luck! Hopefully our readers or other bakers out there will let us know if they have any homemade bread available to purchase.

Dear Sun Spots: On April 19, the Rumford Falls Eagles No. 1248 hosted its 3rd All-Male-Beauty Pageant. There were 13 contestants slated to appear. With an illness in the family one of the gentleman had to back out, but, like a true Eagle brother, a brave man from the audience filled in at the last minute for the Max Baer Heart Fund.

As some of you may know our show consists of three portions, starting with casual wear, next is the talent and ending with evening wear. After each round the “ladies” go through the audience with their purses and collect donations for the charity they represent. This is what we use to determine the winner in each category. The person who brings in the most money for the overall show is the one who is crowned Miss Beauty Queen.

As the co-chairpersons and events coordinators for this event, we would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank all the men and women who attended the show and gave generously, with your support we brought in more than $2,000 for the different charities represented. We would also like to thank all of the contestants for showing a lot of bravery for dressing as women, right down to wearing fake fingernails. The program would not have been a success without them.

Special thanks also go out to all the numerous volunteers who worked so many extraordinarily long hours, the amount of thanks for the kitchen crew is hard to put into words, without their help this event could not have happened, they truly were Eagles “people helping people,” proving that the Aerie and Auxiliary do work hand in hand. Thank you also to Dave Duguay for allowing us to sell tickets at Hannaford. Again, thank you to all who supported us for this program. – Pat Drakus and Marcia Surette, Rumford.

Dear Sun Spots: I’m sure this has run before. However, I’m afraid I failed to take down the information. I am looking for someone to repair my summer aluminum, webbed folding chairs. The chairs need new webbing strips installed. Hopefully, someone out there still does this repair. Thank you. – K.B., Lewiston.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, contact the Chair Doctor on Poplar Hill Road off Route 4 in Turner at 225-2293.

Dear Sun Spots: I own a small daycare. We are looking for a large waffle gym (Little Tike) with a slide. If anyone has a good used one you would like to sell (small price) or give away please call 784-8528. – No Name, Auburn.
