RUMFORD CENTER – The Rumford Center Village Country Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 31. Performers along the village street include Jim Roy and Jean Kasregis, Frank and the Dawgs, The Eagles’ Jammers and the MVHS Jazz Band. “Charlie Who?” from “Where?” will do his act of “What?”

There will be antique cars, children’s games, the Civil War Co. A, 3rd Regiment Encampment in a parade and ceremony, and crafters and demonstrators. And lots of food. In addition to the drawing of a 50/50 ticket, there will be raffles.

The event is sponsored by the Rumford Historical Society and its Education Committee, in cooperation with the Mexico Historical Society. It is, in part, a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Lufkin School Museum in Rumford Center, a family day of fun and a fund-raiser for educational scholarships.

There is no established admission fee, but donations will be accepted throughout the day.

Coinciding with the Country Fair’s featured Civil War ceremony, there will be a free concert of the Yankee Brass Band at 7 p.m. on the Bethel Historical Society lawn. The band will be playing music from the Civil War era and using some of the original instruments.
