LIVERMORE FALLS – The Androscoggin Bank building on Main Street has been sold to Fletcher Properties in Auburn.
The bank is now leasing space for operations from Fletcher Properties, said David Norburg, chief marketing officer for Androscoggin Bank.
The closing on the sale was Dec. 17, he said.
There will be some remodeling to the footprint of the bank’s office space to make more retail space available for the company to lease, Norburg said.
Kevin Fletcher of Fletcher Properties said the firm plans to upgrade the first and second floors of the bank into Class A office space.
The upgrade will include interior and exterior work, Fletcher said.
Doctors’ offices, the bank, a couple of insurance offices and a hair salon are already in the building.
The third and fourth floors will remain residential apartments, he said.
The Masonic Hall is also on the upper level of the building.
Fletcher said the firm plans to incorporate some of the art work, dating back to late 1800s and early 1900s, into the renovations. The art work hangs on the interior walls of the building.
“We’re looking to fill the offices throughout the first and second floors,” Fletcher said.
The transfer of ownership should not affect bank customers and tenants, except the latter will mail their lease payments to the new owners, Norburg said.
The bank will continue to help the town repair the historic tower clock atop the bank, he said.
