NEW VINEYARD – Volunteers were busy Wednesday sprucing up the building that houses the town office, library and historical society.

The front of the building was painted by early afternoon. The trim was painted blue and the building light gray.

Volunteers had moved to work on the sides of the building.

The chimney on the building had previously been recapped in brick by Steve Mitchell & Son of Phillips. Steve Mitchell and Mike Mitchell donated their time and materials, volunteer Lenny Ellis said.

Judith Johnson, who donated the land for the town library about 15 years ago, had also stopped by to help.

The library was built in 1990 and had been enlarged since then, Ellis said.

“We have a great volunteer response,” Selectman Fay Adams said of the turnout. Adams had worked on the building Monday to prepare it for painting.

“It’s a good crew, we work together all the time,” she said.
