NEW VINEYARD – The Mount View Church will host a Journey Home Concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the church. The group was formerly called Jodi Lynn but has changed its name to Journey Home. The group will sing varied selections of contemporary music. There is no admission fee but a freewill offering will be taken. Everyone is welcome to visit with the group following the concert and enjoy refreshments served by the Social Committee in the church.

Club auction

NEW SHARON – Items are being collected for an auction sponsored by the Square and Compass Club at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 20, on the lawn of the New Sharon Congregational Church. Anyone with items to donate may call 778-4396. The Star club will cater and hold a food sale during the auction. Please bring chairs.

Museum market

RANGELEY – The Friends of the Wilhelm Reich Museum has announced the first Orgonon Festival and Flea Market in Rangeley on Saturday, Aug. 14. Space on the lawn is $20 per 10- by 10-foot lot. Ample parking will be provided as well as coffee, doughnuts and bathrooms. Markets provide shelter, table and displays. For information phone Mary Henderson at 864-3443. Flyers with an application that can be torn off have been put at the Beauty Boutique, Rangeley Laundromat, outside of the Rangeley Post Office, Stubby’s Market, and the kiosk in Oquossoc.

Nature programs

RANGELEY – The Wilhelm Reich Museum on Dodge Pond Road in Rangeley announces nature-related workshops and presentations in its Sunday series of the Natural Science Program. The outdoor workshops are free and take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at the sheltered classroom and on the museum trails and fields.

July 11: Wildlife biologist Chuck Hulsey will present Wild Turkeys in Maine. There will be a demonstration of the “rocket net” device used to capture turkeys for relocation and research.

July 18: Naturalist and Maine Master Guide Ray Reitze Jr. presents “Wilderness Survival.” Ray and his wife, Nancy, also an experienced guide, naturalist and herbalist, run the Earthways Guided Canoe Trips and School of Wilderness Survival in Canaan.

July 25: Ecologist Lisa St. Hilaire will guide a “Moss Walk.” She will give an overview of mosses, then guide a walk on the museum trails to look at a variety of mosses first-hand and describe their growing habits and ecological niche.

Participants are reminded to dress for weather and bug conditions. Sturdy shoes, bug spray, and bottled water are recommended. Workshops are held rain or shine. The Natural Science Program is funded by the Wing-Benjamin Trust, Friends of the Wilhelm Reich Museum, and individual donors. For information phone 864-3443.
