KINGFIELD – A benefit supper for Maurice Lambert who has undergone heart surgery will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at the Kingfield Elementary School. Lambert was Kingfield’s fire chief for many years and he has done community work within the town. The menu includes meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, carrots, cole slaw and beverages.

Benefit supper

FARMINGTON – A benefit supper for the musical group, Syncopations, will begin at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Joseph’s Church Hall on Middle Street. The Syncopations will also perform at the supper and are preparing for a a performance at Carnegie Hall this spring.

Bean dinner

NEW SHARON – The New Sharon Congregational Church will sponsor a take-out bean dinner from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 7. The take-out dinner includes 1 quart baked beans, 1 pint cole slaw, rolls or brown bread and a whole, homemade pie. To reserve a dinner, please call 778-2366 and on Saturday, please call 778-2517.

CHESTERVILLE – The Chesterville Democratic caucus will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Chesterville Town Hall.

Public dinner

NEW SHARON – The Square and Compass Club will sponsor a public dinner from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the New Sharon Methodist Church to raise funds to benefit the new Masonic Lodge hall. The menu includes roast pork and gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, rolls, pies and beverages. Adults, $6; children under 12, $4.

Jay caucus

JAY – Jay Democrats will convene for chili, chowder and a caucus Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Jay Middle School Cafeteria. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Caucus will start at 2 p.m. Voting will be held on county committee members, Jay town Democratic officers, chairman, vice chairman, secretary, treasurer, town election clerks, delegates and alternates to the State Convention. The presidential apportionment will start at 2:30 p.m. Once the group starts the presidential process, no one else can join in. This will be the only time that Democrats will be able to voice their choice for a presidential candidate.

VIENNA – The Vienna Mountaineers will sponsor a Poker Run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, starting at the Vienna Community Room. All pickup spots may be reached by snowmobile or by vehicle. Choral group

STARKS – Northfield, an a cappella choral group, will perform its mix of traditional music and period pieces at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Church of Christ, Starks Presbyterian Church on Route 43. The performance will be followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner reception at Memorial Hall. Turkey and beverages will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a dish. Woodlot classes

FARMINGTON – A series of meetings called Working With Your Woodlot will be held during February and March at Mount Blue High School. The meetings will start from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, and continue on consecutive Tuesdays except for school vacation on Feb. 16. Subjects to be covered include introduction to agroforestry, estate planning, timberstand improvement, managing for wildlife, land owner relations program (public use of private land), planning for a timber harvest, marketing forest products, timber trespass, woodland certification and a field trip. There will be a $10 charge for course materials. The course will be canceled after the first night if less than 10 people are registered.
