TEMPLE – Two men were summoned this week for a May mischief spree in which they allegedly pelted three vehicles with large rocks, causing more than $14,000 in damage.

Michael Watson, 19, of Farmington and John Sullivan, 22, of Temple were summoned this week on three felony counts apiece of aggravated criminal mischief, said Franklin County Sheriff’s Department special investigator David St. Laurent.

The summonses came nearly four months after fellow county Deputy Heidi Gould responded to a complaint that three cars had been smashed up during a post-prom camping trip in late May.

According to St. Laurent, the cars had been parked on the side of Jenkins Road, a dirt road in Temple. When the car owners returned to their vehicles, they found windows shattered, mirrors busted and bumpers riddled with dents from rocks.

For the three vehicles, there was more than a total of $14,000 in damage done, and two of the cars were considered totaled.

An intensive investigation led St. Laurent to Watson and Sullivan, who were each charged with a felony count of criminal mischief for each car because the damage to each vehicle was more than $2,000.

The two had been present at the post-prom bash, added St. Laurent, who said the mischief appears to be random.

The men have a Oct. 2 court date and, for each count, could face up to five years in prison.
