LIVERMORE FALLS – Memorial Day ceremonies Monday, May 26, begin prior to the 10 a.m. parade with lineup at 6:30 a.m. at the VFW Hall for the honor guard, firing squad, bugler and participants.
After lineup, a ceremony by the AMVETS will be held at 7 a.m. at Livermore Falls Memorial Bridge. At 7:30 a.m., the Knights of Columbus will conduct a ceremony at the Livermore Veterans Memorial.
A program by Dot White, Hyla Friedman and Jay residents will take place at 8 a.m. at Jay Hill, followed by a ceremony by the VFW at 8:20 a.m. at the Jay POW/MIA Bridge.
The lineup for the parade will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Memco Building on Main Street in Jay. The parade begins at 10 a.m.
During the parade, stops will be made at the Chisholm Square WW2 Monument for a program and ceremony by the AMVETS. Then at the Richardson Cemetery Monument for a ceremony by the Knights of Columbus. The American Legion will lead a ceremony at the Grand Army of the Republic Monument. The VFW will provide a program and ceremony at the WW2 and WW1 Monument in Livermore Falls Park. Again this year, fire, police and emergency services will present a program and wreath laying by local departments at the Livermore Falls Park.
After the parade, a ceremony by the American Legion will be held at 12:15 at the Fayette Veterans Memorial.
The parade lineup includes Livermore Falls Police Dept., CES No. 1 ambulance, Parade marshals, Color Guard, active duty service members, Firing Squad, Maine National Guard, Gold Star Mother, Commanders and Auxiliary presidents, veterans, fire, police and rescue members who would like to step in during and along the parade route, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Honor Guard, Knights of Columbus float, Livermore Falls High School Band, American Legion Miss Poppy, AMVETS Miss Clover, VFW Miss and Master Buddy Poppy, VFW POW-MIA float for all wars, Earl Howard, WW2, Korea, Vietnam veterans, scouts and floats for scouts, 4-H Clubs and floats, Jay School System Band, D.A.R.E., area riders on horses with carts and wagons, antique cars and trucks and Livermore Fire Department.
