Dear Sun Spots: I am an un-remarried widow of a retired service veteran. I would like to know where I can please get a new ID card as mine will be expiring soon. If you can please find this information, please print the hours of operation also. – U.R.W., Wilton
Answer: Sun Spots is unsure which particular veterans’ program you are referring to and she has no contact information from you to correspond with you.
She has learned that there is a health care card program as well as an ID card for the base commissary in Brunswick. Sun Spots would urge you to contact the column with more information. Alternatively, if it is the Brunswick Naval Air Station commissary ID card you are seeking, you should call 921-2511 for their hours and more information. If you are referring to another type of ID card, please provide more information to the column and readers so we can assist you with your query.
Dear Sun Spots: I am trying to locate a knife and pie server with luminescent mother of pearl handles. They also had a design engraved on the blade. They were sold at the Christmas Tree Shop in South Portland and in Augusta during the summer of 2007. (They had a matching spaghetti fork available, which I do not need). They were approximately $4 apiece. They were old-fashioned looking and I would really like to have them for a young couple who have an upcoming specialty themed wedding reception. Please help. Thank you so much. I can be reached at 353-4263. – Nancy, Lisbon Falls.
Answer: Sun Spots located several styles online at eBay and www.bridalpeople.com, and you might consider checking there first to see if you have any luck in locating the particular style you are seeking. In the meantime, consider contacting the Christmas Tree Shops via e-mail at [email protected] or through their customer service line 888-287-3232 to see if they might be able to locate this among their stock.
Dear Sun Spots: I am e-mailing on behalf of my mother, Frances Carlton, P.O. Box 73, Dixfield, ME 04224. She wrote to you trying to find a place to get rid of (recycled) used cards, as the previous place she sent them to no longer wants them. However, the column of Dec. 18 printed her request and asked people to mail their used cards to her address!
She does not want cards. She would like to find someone who recycles them, to get rid of them. The post office will not hold all the additional mail for her. Please ask your readers to not send their cards to my mother. But rather, let her know of anywhere she can recycle them. Thank you very much. – Dale Carlton, No Town.
Answer: Sun Spots apologizes Dale and hopefully readers will not send their used cards to your mother. But will let her know of someone who accepts them.
Dear Sun Spots: There was a request recently in your column for a local company that can scan slides onto a CD from “No Name in Turner.” Could you please let this customer know that not only do we – Photo Finish – scan slides to CD and also print them, but we are having a sale on the process in January and February. We are located in the Auburn Mall, 783-3354, next to the new Super Shoes and Steve & Barry’s stores. Thank you. – Cindy and Brad Sloat, owners.
