AUGUSTA (AP) – Swine flu continues to spread in Maine, where 44 cases have been confirmed.

They include 35 Maine residents and 9 people visiting or staying in the state.

Two-thirds of those confirmed with the H1N1 virus since late April in Maine are under the age of 40, confirming a national trend.

Three people have been hospitalized for H1N1 in the state and two have been discharged.
