KILLINGTON, Vt. (AP) – Killington Resort opened its slopes Sunday, claiming the title as the first resort to open in the east.

Communications Manager Tom Horrocks says freezing temperatures in the last few days have allowed for massive snowmaking.

The resort had nine intermediate and advance trails open with 18 to 30 inches of snow.

Killington hopes to produce enough snow to remain open for the season, weather pending.
