PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Rhode Island College has received a new collection of pop art.
The college has been given 159 photographs and prints taken by the late artist Andy Warhol.
The works are collectively valued at $182,200 and include pictures of celebrities including John Travolta, Liza Minnelli, Martin Scorsese and soccer star Pele.
They will be on display at RIC’s Bannister Gallery next year.
The pictures were donated by the Warhol Foundation, which announced last year that it would distribute Warhol’s work to colleges and universities around the country.
RIC says it was one of 183 schools selected by the foundation.
