MIDDLESEX, Vt. (AP) – Police say a Middlesex teenager has died in a snowmobile crash after colliding with a friend near his home.
Seventeen-year-old John D. Picard was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Sunday morning.
Police say the U-32 High School senior crashed into another snowmobile as the two snow machines were riding up opposite sides of the same hill.
The crash happened on a Vermont Association of Snow Travelers trail near Picard’s Portal Road home.
Both snowmobilers were ejected from their machines. The other snowmobiler, 26-year-old Shawn Lamson of Berlin was taken to Central Vermont Hospital with head and neck injuries, which police say were not life threatening.
