SHAFTSBURY, Vt. (AP) – A local man was in custody Sunday a day after he was charged with riding his bicycle to a local residence, shooting a man there multiple times and then riding back to his home, state police said.

Michael Christmas, 40, was arrested without incident by Vermont State Police troopers at his home in Shaftsbury.

The victim, Ronald Wilkins, 36, of North Bennington was declared dead at a hospital, police said.

The shooting took place at the Harrington residence.

Christmas was being held Sunday at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Rutland.

State Police are working to determine a motive for the shooting.
