WASHINGTON (AP) – Washington is sending northern New Hampshire a grant to help build the region’s economy in response to job losses.

Sen. John Sununu says the Commerce Department is sending the North Country Council $319,000 for projects including a five-year economic development plan and helping plan how to convert a mill complex into a wood-fired energy plant.

The goal is to help Coos County attract new jobs and businesses and help Colebrook prevent flooding in its downtown area.
