LUDLOW, Vt. (AP) – A 79-year-old Putney man skiing at Okemo Mountain was killed after colliding with a snowboarder, police said.
Everett Gassett was taken to Springfield Hospital after the Thursday collision where he was pronounced dead.
Results of an autopsy conducted Friday won’t be available until next week.
Police said Gassett collided with Okemo snowboard instructor Nathan Hawkins who was on a day off. Hawkins suffered a broken clavicle.
Ludlow Police Chief Jeffrey Billings said no charges would be filed.
“It was an unfortunate accident,” he said. “I wouldn’t say either party was skiing out of control.”
