LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – Police arrested a man early Thursday morning on charges he tried to stab the new boyfriend of his former girlfriend.
Jason Watson, 26, was charged with attempted first degree assault, police said. He was being held on $10,000 bail.
Police who went to the woman’s apartment said the couple told them Watson barged into the apartment, armed with a knife, and tried to attack the new boyfriend. The couple said they had fended him off and he had fled.
However, the woman suffered an injury to her face; she told police Watson had hit her with his elbow.
The woman told police that Watson had been suicidal. Police were unable to find him at his apartment in the same complex, but contacted him on his cell phone and persuaded him to turn himself in.
