N.H. to start selling $20 scratch tickets
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – The New Hampshire Lottery Commission starts selling its new $20 scratch tickets today.
Lottery officials say the tickets will be on sale at more than 12,000 locations around the state. The top prize is $250,000 with two prizes of $20,000 and 10 prizes of $10,000. Smaller prizes range from $20 to $500.
Lawmakers approved the move to a $20 ticket earlier this year. Rick Wisler, executive director of the Lottery Commission, said he’s pleased the game is out in time for the upcoming holiday season.
Instant scratch tickets make up about 70 percent of lottery sales for the state. Last year alone, that meant sales of more than $162 million dollars.

The drug can cause chest pain and an irregular heartbeat when used improperly. The couple’s daughter Melissa Mimms told police her mother was trying to make her father sick.
Besides the spiked drink, Mimms said her mother urinated in her father’s eggnog and dipped his toothbrush in the toilet on separate occasions.
McDevitt pleaded guilty to reckless conduct.

AG Prepares
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – Attorney General Kelly Ayotte is getting help from some of the country’s top lawyers as she prepares to argue a case before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Ayotte will be asking the high court to uphold a New Hampshire law that requires that parents be notified before a minor girl receives an abortion. The law was overturned by lower courts because it doesn’t have an exception to protect a young woman’s health.
Ayotte has been to Washington D.C. to get accustomed to the Supreme Court’s procedures. She’s also arranged to practice her arguments with various experts.
The case is scheduled to go before the nation’s high court on Nov. 30.
Teacher Picket
CONCORD, N.H.(AP) – Teachers plan to picket outside city schools over the next few weeks to protest their lack of a new contract.
Teachers and school board officials are in negotiations but several issues remain contentious. The school board wants teachers to share the cost of skyrocketing health insurance but teachers don’t want to end up losing money.
Negotiations for a new contract have dragged on for almost a year. Teachers have been working without a new contract for the last four months.
The picketing plan calls for teachers to stand outside the schools for about 20 minutes each morning before classes start.
