LINCOLN PARK, N.J. (AP) – Two planes went off the runway Monday at a Morris County airport, but no serious injuries were reported in either incident.
According to Arlene Murray, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman, a Cessna 172 was attempting to land around 3:15 p.m. when the pilot reported brake problems. The plane veered off the runway into the grass, but the unidentified pilot – the only person onboard – was not injured.
In the second incident, three people were aboard a SR22 single-engine aircraft, manufactured by Cirrus Corp., when it ran off the runway while landing around 3:35 p.m., Murray said.
The plane veered onto Jacksonville Road, which runs perpendicular to the airport. One person suffered minor injuries, and the plane received minor damage.
Murray said the plane was registered to Susanne and Russell Wolfe from Mountainside, but it was not known if they were among those on board.
