CAMPTON, N.H. (AP) – A 20-month-old toddler from Massachusetts has died, four days after he was found unconscious in the water at a campground.
The death of the boy, whose identity was not released at the request of his family, was ruled an accidental drowning, said police Chief Christopher Warn.
The boy, from Somerset, Mass., apparently wandered away from his family’s campsite at Branch Brook Campground last Thursday evening, police said.
He was found in the water by a cousin. A nearby camper and a family member performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until rescuers arrived.
The toddler was taken to Speare Hospital and then flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he died at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
A family member requested that the boy’s identity be withheld to allow the family some privacy.
