RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) – A Whitehall, N.Y., man is facing charges that he broke into the same home twice in Castleton to steal money for drugs.

Jason Brown, 22, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Vermont District Court in Rutland to two counts of burglary and two counts of petty larceny. He was ordered jailed for lack of $100,000 bail.

“We submit that due to the serious nature of these offenses, that significant cash bail is warranted,” Rutland State’s Attorney James Mongeon said in court.

Public defender Steven Zwicky did not contest the bail request.
