LACONIA, N.H. (AP) -The chief of police says a bill meant to curb motorcycle noise won’t help much if enacted.
Laconia is host to Bike Week, one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the nation.
Police Chief Tom Oetinger says the 106 decibel noise limit mentioned in the measure is still very loud.
The bill also requires a noise-level test that some officers say is too cumbersome.
But backers of the proposal say it will help make New Hampshire a little quieter.
Woman dies after wandering outside
HUDSON, N.H. (AP) – An elderly woman passed through a locked exit at a nursing home and died of hypothermia in an outdoor courtyard.
Harriet Low, 89, was found unconscious early Friday morning, when the air temperature had dropped below freezing.
Police say Low figured out how to deactivate a lock on the door.
They say Low had a history of wandering the nursing home’s halls.
