ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) – Local and federal authorities raided three businesses Thursday, alleging that they were being used for prostitution.

Eight women were taken into custody on a variety of state and federal charges and many of them face possible deportation to their native country, WCAX-TV reported, citing law enforcement sources.

One man was arrested but he was released and no charges were immediately filed.

The businesses in the Burlington suburbs all operated as Asian massage parlors but they actually were selling sex, authorities said.
