BOSTON (AP) – A Boston man has plezaded guilty to his role in defrauding insurance companies of more than $200,000 by either staging car accidents or claiming he was in accidents that never occurred during a six-year period.
Anthony Snow, 43, of the city’s Dorchester neighborhood, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to six counts of mail fraud and three counts of wire fraud.
Snow, often with others, would use false documents, including fraudulent driver’s licenses and automobile registrations, to obtain payments from insurance companies, prosecutors said. In one incident, Snow and others obtained an insurance payment of more than $5,500 based on an claim involving a vehicle that was in an impound lot on the date of the alleged accident.
In another incident, Snow claimed to have been in an accident with himself by using two separate aliases.
Snow was finally arrested in March when he claimed he was involved in an accident while under law enforcement surveillance. Both vehicles he said were involved were parked outside of his home at the time he claimed the accident occurred.
Snow is scheduled to be sentenced on April 26. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, three years of probation and a $250,000 fine on each count.
The investigation is continuing.
