SALEM, N.H. (AP) – Two people were killed and three hurt in an accident on Route 28 over the weekend.

Police withheld the victims’ names until their relatives could be notified.

Police are still investigating what happened. They said the accident happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday a half mile north of Main Street.

They said three vehicles were involved – a 1990 Nissan 300ZX, a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and a 1999 Kia Sephia. The driver of the Nissan and a passenger in the Kia were pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia’s driver and the two occupants of the Jeep were hospitalized.

Police closed Route 28 between Main and Taylor streets while they conducted their investigation.
