Board: Turner selectman
Met: Monday, June 15
MDOT permit
Issue: The board reviewed a request from the Maine Department of Transportation for a town permit to transport construction equipment over a town road during reconstruction of Route 117.
The scoop: The construction equipment exceeds the legal weight limit for that road.
Up next: The board denied the request because the town postings override overweight permits.
Employee benefits
Issue: The board reviewed the annual pay-rate order, longevity schedule and flex benefit schedule of town employees.
The scoop: Selectmen reviewed all wages, changes in the longevity schedule, a benefit paid to qualifying full-time employees from the current year and approved the wages as listed with one amendment to the stipend for the assistant fire chief.
Up next: The assistant fire chief stipend increased $250; all other rates are the same because no increase was approved by voters at the annual town meeting. Longevity, a weekly addition to employee wages, was granted as follows: $25 after four years, $50 after eight years, $75 after 12, and $100 after 16 years. The prorated benefit schedule was tabled.
Finance report
Issue: The board reviewed the most current finance report for all departments.
The scoop: Two department accounts were found to be overdrawn: the Public Works Garage at $504 and the Transfer Station at $4,545.
Up next: The board authorized the use of up to $6,000 to cover these overdrafts on June 30.
