AUBURN – Linda Rogers, president of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, died recently following a battle with colon cancer. A board member since 2003, despite her declining health and dealing with lupus, Rogers maintained her volunteer service at the shelter, greeting visitors and assisting with shelter duties.

Rogers was born in Lancashire, England, and spent part of her childhood with her mother in India. She traveled extensively throughout Europe, and immigrated to the United States in her 20s. She worked for many years in sales and public relations, and was an avid horsewoman.

There will be a celebration of remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at the Rogers residence at 50 Dana Ave., Auburn. Those interested in attending are asked to notify Donna at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society at 783-2311.
