Inmates at the Maine State Prison in Warren are on a hunger strike to protest the lack of television and radio. Online readers comment on the strike:

Ya know…if the rest of the “prisoners” didn’t have them, this would be a non-issue! I say, if those supermax prisoners want it to be fair, then take away the rest of the tvs and radios from the rest of the prisoners. Let these few take the heat for spoiling it for the rest!

I’m noticing that none of us seems to think that it’s necessary for these individuals to have access to radio and violent TV shows. I think they should take away the pencils, paper, and magazines too. Can they even read?? I think they’ve had their chance to watch TV – it’s over now – they are in PRISON!

I say give them the radios. Just make sure the radios only get Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo, Glenn Miller and at night play William Shatner’s four albums.

Oh come on now. I say give them (their) radios and Tvs. Hey, while we are at it lets get drugs for the junkies, booze for the alcoholics, and hire young prostitutes to take care of all the pediphiles and rapists. I mean really we cant have these guys suffering because they chose to break the law now can we…..Wake Up America.
