LEWISTON – The future of spring cleanup trash collections will be the topic of a special forum hosted by the city’s Solid Waste Committee from 6 to 8 p.m. in City Hall.

The city collects bulky items and yard waste over several weeks each spring. Collections this year were greater than years past and took staff longer to complete. The committee is considering eliminating the collections to cut costs and free up staff to start road repair work earlier in the year.

The committee began meeting this spring. The group was created by the City Council to review the city’s solid waste, recycling and landfill issues and to make recommendations. It meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
