TURNER – Police are searching for a Turner man who vanished with his father’s company van on Monday.

James Lessard, 25, has not been seen since early Monday when he fueled a white Chevrolet cargo van and drove away without money, credit cards or a phone.

Investigators say Lessard may be despondent over the death of his mother and some recent relationship problems but believe the disappearance is out of character.

“From what we’re told, this is unusual behavior for him,” said Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Reilly Bryant.

Police said Lessard has ties to Canada but it was unknown if he was headed there.

The Sheriff’s Office has notified other area police agencies to be on the lookout for Lessard, who is described as moderately built with black hair and brown eyes.

The white cargo van bears the plate with registration number 5248 NY. The van has no windows, according to police information. It bears no company name but has two small racks on the roof.

Police asked that anyone with information about Lessard’s whereabouts call them at 784-7361, ext. 0.
