DURHAM – A Durham mother and daughter escaped with minor injuries when their vehicle struck a moose on Route 136 at dusk Saturday evening.

Deputy Sheriff Tim Kachnovich identified the driver as Michelle Barley, 48. She and her 17-year-old daughter were treated at the scene by Durham Fire and Rescue personnel.

The moose was mortally injured and had to be dispatched, Kachnovich said.

Damage to Barley’s 2003 Dodge Caravan was estimated at $2,000.
