Board: Sabattus Board of Selectmen
Met: Tuesday night
New CEO hired
Issue: The code enforcement officer position has been empty since a retirement at the end of June.
The scoop: Selectmen hired Steve LeBrun of Greene as the new officer, building inspector and health officer. The code office position used to be part time. After voters approved the change at the May town meeting, LeBrun’s job will be full time. There are no set hours yet.
Up next: After training, he’ll eventually become the plumbing inspector, too.
A festive thank you
Issue: Organizer Norm LaPlante was given a plaque to thank him for a successful second annual Sabattus Festival in July.
Up next: LaPlante said he has volunteers lined up for 2009.
Welcome back
Issue: After serving on the Planning Board for 20 years, Denis Castonguay retired in 2007. Townspeople convinced him to come back and selectmen reappointed him Tuesday night.
Up next: The Planning Board could still use two to three additional members. Applications available at Town Office.
Mark your calendar
Issue: The next special town meeting to discuss the school budget is set for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at Sabattus Central School. That’s the time and place to influence the budget numbers.
Up next: On Aug. 19, the budget will go to a ballot vote again, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Office.
